How do I count the days between two dates?

Enter both dates in "Days between dates". The result shows the total days, the same span in weeks and days, in years, months and days, and how many working days (Monday to Friday) it covers.

Does it include the end date?

Not by default: from 1 to 10 October is 9 days. Tick "Include the end date" to count both the first and last day (10 days), which is usual for things like holidays or notice periods.

How are leap years handled?

Automatically. 1 January 2024 to 1 January 2025 is 366 days because 2024 is a leap year, while the same span a year earlier is 365.

What happens when I add a month to 31 January?

The date moves to the last day of the next month: 31 January + 1 month is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. The same applies when adding years from 29 February.

Are bank holidays counted as working days?

No adjustment is made for public holidays, which vary by country. Working days here are simply Monday to Friday, so subtract any holidays that fall in the period.

Can I count backwards from a date?

Yes. Choose "Subtract" in "Add or subtract" to find the date a number of days, weeks, months or years earlier.
